Summer Camp 2007


For kids aged 6 to 11 years old who want to have fun in French all summer long.

Summer Fun in French! Splashing in the pool, swimming at the lake! Games, yummy cooking, arts & crafts, hiking and special day trips are just a few of the things that make up our summer day camp. Be sure to join us for tons of fun in French this summer.

Themes:

July 3 to 6 - Sports Week

Have you ever dreamed of standing on a podium to receive a gold medal? Are you an active person? Come and enjoy a week of moving, running, jumping, and participation in many competitive events. Sportsmanship is a must! And, most importantly, don’t forget your smile!

July 9 to 13 - Arts Week
Are you a budding artist? Do you want to explore your talents for crafts, music, dance, and theatre? Bring your imagination and be a star for a week!

July 16 to 20 - Adventure Week
Do you enjoy wilderness and animals? You are not afraid of the jungle, are you? Do you enjoy fishing, plants, and spiders? Even if you don’t like catching snakes, join us for the hunt.

July 23 to 27 - Pirates Week
Do you want to be a pirate? Search for island treasures, and discover hidden secrets under the sea. Come aboard and join us on a francophone pirate adventure.

July 30 to August 3 - Cooking Week
Do you like baking? Would you like to make your own candies? Let’s sample foods from around the world. Bring your apron and your smile and let’s cook up something!
Please Note: There will be an extra $10 fee per child for this week. ($2 per day)

August 7 to 10 - Celebration Week
The Week of 'no matter what the date' Celebrations
Do you like to have fun and celebrate something no matter what the season? Celebrate Christmas in summer! How about Halloween in August? To add to the festivities, experience a unique beach party! And while you're at it, why not celebrate your un-birthday every day of the week?
Please Note: The camp will be closed August 6th.Enjoy celebrating BC Day!

August 13 to 17 - Science Week
How do things work? Do you ask lots of questions about the world around you? Satisfy your curiosity as we discuss astronomy, ecology, chemistry, and bizarre phenomena. Discover all the surprises the science world has to offer.

August 20 to 24 - Talent Week
Come and help us celebrate the End of Summer Festival. If you like dancing, singing, or if you know how to play a musical instrument, join the show! Bring your ideas! It’s party week!

To register, there are four options:

  • call Parks, Recreation and Culture at 756-5200,
  • in person at Beban Park, Bowen Park or Nanaimo Aquatic Centre
  • visit the City of Nanaimo web site.
    Complete the City’s registration form
    (provide your Visa or MasterCard number)
  • fax the form to 758-8761 or 753-7277.

Each week, on the first day of the camp, a calendar of activities related to the theme proposed will be remitted to the parents.
