Gérald Laroche-The Visual Artist
"I've tried to recreate on canvas
the harmony which exists between
the people and the places of the North.
This unity between the human being
and nature is for me the
true reflection of the North."

Regina Seib
Nanaimo
resident, Regina Seib, was born in a small village in East
Germany and emigrated to Canada at age seven. Rural Saskatchewan
became her new home which she explored with a keen curiosity and
wonder. As the years went by she acquainted herself with and
lived in all three Western Canadian provinces. As an only child,
art became her language and as time went on, drawing and
painting became an ardent passion.
Constantly inspired by God’s vast creation Regina finds she is
motivated and challenged by her strong personal convictions,
places she’s travelled and people she’s met. Her work is found
in some public and numerous private collections.
“The land and sea have a profound effect on me and my work
represents the spontaneous emotional reaction to the beauty I
find in nature whether it's contemplating and peaceful or bold
and exciting. By emphasizing shape, movement, light and colour I
interpret the landscape with the mood it offers me and often one
aspect may take center stage. In my abstract works I draw
heavily on my own imagination, bringing to life something from
within. I distil the images, exploring form, colour and light,
always working towards a cohesive whole. The painting process is
diverse, from layers of thin glazes to heavy texture. The work
is not complete until it feels right instinctively and has the
power I desire.”
