Poster Deliverers
Delivering posters throughout Greater Nanaimo,
as well as to Francophone associations throughout Vancouver Island
(Comox Valley, Campbell River, Victoria)

Your gas costs are reimbursed


Cashiers
To operate cash registers for the sale of coupons
for food and toffee on snow.

Friday, February 10 – 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Saturday, February 11 – 9:00 am to 10:00 pm
Sunday, February 12 – 9:00 am to 4:30 pm


Set-up Crew
Unload supplies from our 48-foot trailer van to the festival site,
organize tables and chairs, erect stands.
After the festival, taking down tables, etc., and reloading the van.
*Heavy lifting required*

Thursday, February 9 - 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
Friday, February 10 - 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Sunday, February 12 - 4:00 pm to 12 midnight


General Headquarters
Register and direct volunteers to various workstations.
Manage lost and found items.
*French is required*

Kitchen Helper
Assist head and assistants cooks in the preparation and
serving of traditional festival meals.
Culinary skills and FOODSAFE required.
French speaking is an asset

Serve traditional foods during the festival.

Dishwashers
Washing dishes during the festival

Messengers
Deliver messages to festival administrators.
Assist with pickup and delivery of items to the festival site.
 Running errands as required throughout the festival.
Moving food from site to site, picking up Festival artists if required.
French speaking is an asset

L'AFN Booth Attendants
Promote and sell specialty products.
Familiarity with products and services offered by L'AFN is an asset.

Security

Tentative Schedule
Thursday, February 8 - 8:00 am to midnight
Friday, February 10 – 8:00 am to midnight
Saturday, February 11 – 8:00 am to midnight
Sunday, February 12 – 8:00 am to midnight

Two persons are also required from midnight to 8:00 am
from Friday into Saturday and Saturday into Sunday


Mt. Washington Snow Crew
Obtain and transport snow from Mt. Washington. At least one
volunteer, in their own vehicle, will be the designated crew driver
to Mt. Washington. Help install and replenish snow containers.
French speaking not required
*Travel expenses will be covered by L'AFN*

Festival Snow Crew
Building snow containers, setting up and refilling snow
when needed throughout the festival.

Saturday, February 11 – 8:00 am to 8:00 pm
Sunday, February 12 – 8:00 am to 6:00 pm


Clean-Up Crew
Maintaining a clean festival site using the equipment provided.
Clean eating areas constantly during the day to sanitary standards.
Clear dishes and glassware from the tables in the Centennial building.
Tidy Festival site at the end of each day, wipe down tables and food areas,
empty garbage and recycling areas, keep washroom facilities clean and well stocked.
French speaking is not required

Make-up Artists
Face painting during Festival hours

Mascot and Mascot Escort
Dress and act as Toffy, our Festival Mascot or escort Toffy
while he participates in various activities during the Festival.
French is not required

Welcoming Committee
Welcome visitors to the Festival at their arrival and departure of
the Festival grounds. Hand out brochures with the Festival schedule,
answer questions regarding general information about the Festival.
French speaking is an asset.
*English speaking volunteers will be
paired with Francophone volunteers*

Parking Lot Attendant
Direct traffic flow, help festival attendees find parking
and ensure vehicles are parked only in designated areas

Cashier and Entrance Ticket Collectors
Operate cash registers in various locations
throughout the festival grounds.

Meal Servers in Volunteer Centre
Sets up service area, heats up and serves food to volunteers

Bar Server
Serves wine and beer to attendees.
Works with Bar Supervisor.
Diligently ensures that monies in cash register balance with drinks sold.
Must be certified with Serving It Right (SIR).

Saturday, February 11 – 3:30 pm to 9:00 pm


Maple Toffy Server / Maple Sugar Product Sales
Melts toffy onto snow and serve it to ticket holders.
Diligently ensures that monies in cash register balance with goods sold.
