VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Maple Sugar Festival du Sucre d’Érable de Nanaimo. We accept applications to work at the Maple Sugar Festival du Sucre d’Érable from NEW and RETURNING volunteers from December 1 to February 28 each year. If you are interested in YEAR-ROUND volunteer opportunities, including serving on the Festival work group committee, please send an email to michel@francophonenanaimo.org  with the Subject line "Year round volunteer availability." Volunteers are required for many different tasks during the Festival week. Detailed information about all the volunteer opportunities for the year is posted here starting on December 1, of each year.

Volunteer Positions Available
Cashiers:
To operate cash registers for the sale of coupons
for food and toffee on snow.

Tentative Schedule :
Wed Feb.20th : 9:00 AM- 2:30 PM
Thu Feb.21st : 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Fri Feb.22nd : 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Sat Feb.23rd : 8:00 AM –9:00 PM
Sun Feb 24th : 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Set-up Crew:
Unload supplies from our 48 ft trailer van to the festival site,
stage setup, organize tables and chairs, erect stands.
Heavy lifting required.

Thurs. Feb.14th - Wed Feb. 27th
8:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Headquarters:
Register and direct volunteers to various workstations.
Manage lost and found items.
French is required.

Cook Helpers:
Assist head and assistants cooks in the preparation of meals.
Culinary skills required.

Promote and sell specialty products.
Familiarity with products required.

Mt. Washington Snow Crew:
Obtain and transport snow from Mt. Washington. One volunteer will be the designated crew driver to Mt. Washington.
Travel expenses will be covered by L'AFN.

Festival Snow Crew:
Setting up of snow and the refilling of snow containers during the festival.

Fri Feb. 22nd : 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM

Makeup Artists:
Paint children's faces. French speaking an asset, but it is not required.

Note: Two information sessions will be provided before the event.

Mascot or Mascot Escort:
Dress and act as Toffy, the festival mascot
or escort Toffy while he participates in various activities
during the festival. French is not required.
